We all know the rules for summer skin – less is more, and a glowing tan is absolutely essential.
Here are my top recommended beauty products that will help you get summer ready and prolong sunkissed, bronzed skin. One step towards feeling more Adriana Lima? I think so.
Each Summer I find myself searching for the same kinds of products – natural bronzers, light-weight foundations, blinding highlighters. In other words, anything to channel my inner bronzed goddess. We’ve certainly been spoilt for choice in recent years as there are so many summer-inspired products available to suit all budgets. Whether you want to invest in summer beauty or just dabble with a few lower cost buys is really up to you. I feel like there’s a little something for everyone in my summer beauty selection based on use and cost. Without further a due, let’s get to the list.
Glowstarter – Mega Illuminating Moisturiser by GlamGlow (Sunglow)
GlamGlow has recently launched their newest product, ‘Glowstarter’, an illuminating moisturiser that comes in three shades (light, medium and dark). I like to use the product as a primer to illuminate and inject a healthy glow before applying any makeup. I’m currently using the medium shade, but suspect that I’ll switch to the darker shade once I get my tan on. Buy here.
Sun Glow Blur Bronzing Serum by ByTerry (No 2, Sun Nude)
I’ve mentioned this bottle of bronzey goodness in previous posts (‘My Best Spring Beauty Buys‘), and I’m still as excited about it today. As mentioned before, the ‘finished’ look is always more polished and even when using this bronzing serum. In recent weeks I’ve been using it to darken my current foundation. There is nothing worse than investing in a beautiful new foundation for your summer holiday only to find it’s not a match three days in. I add one or two pumps of product to my foundation, and it seems to do the trick. While there are lots of shade altering drops on the market, I like to use the ByTerry bronzing serum as it adds a beautiful texture and is subtle in tone.
Spotlight Highlight palette by Smashbox
If you’re looking for a dramatic, intense glow then this is the highlighter palette to invest in this summer. The Spotlight palette has a great mixture of highlighter tones – the lightest shade ‘Turn it on’ is incredibly pigmented and noticeable on the skin while the two ‘bronzey’ shades, ‘Crank it up’ and ‘Blow a fuse’ are perfect for a subtle blended highlight. I like to use the bronze shades during the day and opt for a more noticeable highlight in the evening with ‘turn it on’. Buy here.
Soleil De La Mer Illuminating Bronzer by Lamer
I’ve admired Lamer as a brand for a long time. They’re primarily known for their innovative treatments, luxurious textures and extraordinary results, not to mention being recognised as the most coveted skincare in the world. Their skincare range is without a doubt impressive, and everyone who uses it, loves it and will not venture past the brand. I was very surprised and pleased to learn that Lamer have started to introduce makeup products to their range. I have tried the latest Limited Edition Soleil Le La Mer Illuminating Bronzer and completely adore it, and cannot believe that it’s ‘limited edition’ (*must stock up*). The bronzer has a mixture of darker and lighter tones and has a touch of highlight throughout. The ‘finish’ is exquisite on the skin – bronzed, natural, illuminating and worth every penny.
Glow pot by Topshop Beauty
This purchase is a key example of clever store set up – place of all the shiny, relatively inexpensive products near the till and shoppers like myself will be drawn to them like magpies. I spotted Topshop’s ‘Glow’ pot and was immediately drawn to its beautiful colour. Of course, I bought it (all in the name of blogging) and have been using it ever since as an easy, low-maintenance, creamy eye shadow. Once swipe of product across the eyelid and your good to go. So easy but effective.
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Or / Multi-purpose dry oil
It’s fairly obvious from recent insta story coverage that I’m a fully fledged ‘Nuxe Girl’. I’ve recently fallen in love with some of their products and adore using them on a daily basis. I plan on covering my favourite Nuxe products in a ‘Skincare routine switch up’ beauty post very soon, but until then I’d like to share my love of one Nuxe product, in particular – Nuze Huile Prodigieuse Or / Multipurpose Dry Oil. On first glance, you can appreciate how luxurious this product is. The bronzed particles in the oil are perfect for summer and qualify it as an essential holiday buy. Buy here.
I’d love to know what kind of products you’ve invested in for Summer! Let me know in the comments below.
